Part of my usual morning routine is to chase the pigeons away from my balcony. Yes, it's futile, because they usually return in a minute or two. Ohwell. Anyway, over the last few days I noticed there were more pigeons than usual hanging around here, and they would return faster after I chased them away. Plus, there was almost always one sitting in the flower planter on the ground. Upon closer inspection this morning, I noticed two eggs in there. No wonder the pigeon was always in a rush to come back. |

I don't remember throwing that old t-shirt (bike cleaning rag) into the planter. Maybe a pigeon put it in there a while back? They also seem to have added a bunch of other sticks and junk to the planter too. |

Hmm...with the chives I still have growing indoors, I could make an omlette. On second thought....... |

When I got home tonight, the mother pigeon was sitting on the eggs keeping them warm. I was surprised that she didn't fly away when I opened the balcony door to take more photos. She only flew away when I tried to push the camera really close. |

Yeah, my balcony is a bit crapped up right now. During the summer I'm good at keeping it clean, but in the winter I don't go out there much so the paint scraper and wire brush don't see much action. |

I'm not really sure what to do with these eggs. I'm sort of curious to watch them hatch and grow up, but I also don't need more pigeons hanging around here making a mess. |

I enjoy watching the pigeons do their funny dances, and in many ways they're beautiful birds. But they crap all over the place too, and there's certainly no shortage of these "rats with wings" around here! |
