Today was another fun day of hanging out with Jen. In the morning and
afternoon, we met up with her parents and went out to Unionville to
visit her grandma and go for some lunch. The old town of Unionville
is very quaint. I think we should definitely plan to ride our bikes
out there sometime. After the visit, Jen's parents dropped us off at the Scarborough Town Centre, where we hopped on the Scarborough RT train to ride back to the city. Jen had never been on the RT before, and it's been many years since I've been on there. Here's a picture of Jen getting all excited as the train pulls in to the station. |

The Scarborough RT took us to the end of the subway line, where we transferred onto the Danforth-Bloor train, then finally got off at Coxwell in the east end of Toronto. We had a few hours to kill before dinner, so we walked around exploring the neighbourhood around here. Neither one of us are too familiar with the east end yet, although Jen's dad's family is from out there. We had a fun time walking down The Danforth, and checking out the 'hoods along the side streets. As we cut through an alleyway, we saw these shoes artistically hammered to a pole. |

After 5:00, the sun was starting to set over downtown off to the west. The clouds were looking pretty cool too. I think this picture was taken at the corner of Pape and Riverdale. |

Gerrard St. East is Toronto's "Little India" neighbourhood, with many Indian and Pakistani restaurants, shops, etc. I was in food heaven! Here's one of the many storefront displays showing off their selection of traditional Indian clothing. |

This isn't a good picture (I'll have to go back in the daytime), but this is probably the weirdest house I've seen in Toronto so far. It's located at 157 Coxwell, between Gerrard and Dundas. 800 square feet, standing on four pillars and accessed by a 32 foot long bridge. More details at spacesbyrohan.com. |

Our final destination of the day was the New Haandi 2000 Indian buffet on Gerrard St. We came here to meet up with a bunch of other cyclists who are keen on starting a new local HPV group in Toronto. The food was tasty, and the company even better. I had a great time meeting up with everyone here. We're hoping to have more HPV meetings in the future. Clockwise from bottom-left: Tanya, Chris, Darren, Vic, Jen, Joe, Jason, and Doug. Two other people (John and Rob) were also there, but left before I snapped this photo! |
