Today after work I met up with Jen at Islington Station, and we took the subway downtown for a night out. The first order of business was to get some food! We wanted to try a vegetarian place that was listed in NOW magazine, but they seem to mostly do desserts (pies!) and lunch stuff, and they were mostly out of non-dessert items by this time in the day. Ohwell, no big loss. We still had fun walking around Yorkville, even though it was very cold out. It's interesting to note that Yorkville was a different town before it was annexed into the city of Toronto. They even had a trolley or bus service that ran from Yorkville down to the city! Now it's just part of downtown, basically. Anyway, in this picture I'm standing on a big rock in a park on Cumberland St. |

It was too cold to keep playing on the rock, so we walked down Bloor towards St. George to try to find some place to eat. We settled on a pub (Fox and Feather?), and got warmed up and filled up there. Here are a couple of pictures of Jen.... |

...and a picture of me too. After dinner, we went to 1,001 Friday Nights of Storytelling at the University of Toronto. This is basically a gathering of people who enjoy telling, or listening to, stories. It's a pretty interesting way to spend the night out, and we had fun listening to the spooky, funny, and sentimental stories these storytellers shared with us. Thanks to Rachael for letting us know about this. |
