Since today was Good Friday, I had the day off work. I spent most of the
day getting some stuff done around home, and then headed off to Hamilton
to visit Mom and Dad for the rest of the Easter weekend.
Of course, I wanted to have a bike with me, so I packed up my panniers
and took the Bike Friday. Here's a picture of my bike as I waited for
the elevator.

I forgot something, so I had to go back up and get it....so here's
another picture of my bike as I waited for the elevator.

|
I rode my bike down to Union Station to catch a GO Transit bus to
Hamilton. I sat on a bench outside the station while I folded up my
bike to put it in the Travel Bag. Here's a picture of the statue infront
of the station.

Another picture of the statue.
After I packed my bike into the Travel Bag, I bought my ticket and walked
over to the bus platforms. This was my first time using the Travel Bag.
In the future, I need to remember that it's not too easy / comfortable to
carry the bike in its bag, so I should try to pack it just before boarding
the bus (or whatever) to minimize carrying. I placed the bike under the
bus myself, and then boarded the bus for the ride to Hamilton.

Upon arrival in Hamilton, one of the GO Transit workers had already
unloaded my bike by the time I got off. I went over to a bench to unfold
it and attach the panniers, and then I rode off...
Here I am, riding up John St. near Young. The entire ride from the station
to Mom and Dad's is basically straight up the escarpment.
|
|
I was going to take the Jolly Cut up the hill, but decided to try the
gravel trail at the top of John St. instead. I wasn't sure if I'd be
able to ride up it all the way without stopping and walking (it's quite
steep and unpaved), but I didn't really have any trouble at all. The
Bike Friday is relatively light, especially compared to my recumbent,
and it's geared very well to handle the hills.

Almost at the top now....and time for dinner!
